So many camera bags

As camera bags go, I know that I probably have to many. Some of which I have bought, and others that have been sent to me to trial. Each in their own right serves a purpose for different trips and situations. I have, over the years had many more that have come and gone, only to be sold to someone else to find new life and adventures.

Is there such a thing as a universally perfect bag? The answer to this question is different for each photographer based on their needs. For me, the answer is that I have not found one as of yet and the bags that I currently have do the job, but I am open to possibilities.

Every photographer I know has said at some point about “I’m still looking for the perfect camera bag,” usually right after or right before they buy yet another camera bag for their collection.

So, I am now looking at another bag. I feel like there needs to be an organization for people like us that may be considered hoarders of camera bags. Maybe there is and I need to join. The bag in question that I am considering is the Gura Gear Kibiko v2.0 30L. Still on the fence as I have something similar from another line that is no longer being produced.

Criteria for me is that it has to fit in the overheads of most airlines and commercially regional aircraft and be able to carry my 600/ f/4. Needs to be customizable so the layout, once configured allows for easy access to my gear when needed. Roller bag is optional for me and that will do me no good out in the field, so a backpack is essential.

This post comes as a result of question I get asked a lot by photographers, both beginners and more novice, on how do I carry my gear. The gear that I currently have can be seen on my gear page. Not a lot by some photographers standards, but each piece fits a need I have, or have had in the past.

The bag above in question, the Gura Gear Kibiko v2.0 30L I did end up purchasing when I was able to get a hands on look at the bag. It is well thought out, carries the gear that I need for the given job, including the 600 f/4 TC, and is a back pack which is perfect for those hikes to places unknown. This is the first bag that I have owned from Gura Gear and so far, it has lived up to the hype. It is quickly becoming my favorite backpack on all trips.

Feel free to leave a comment on what has worked for you and what you use. I would love to hear your thoughts.
